How To Fix That Dripping Tap

If you have a traditional older looking tap that is dripping from the spout after you have switched it off, then the most common cause of this problem is a defective washer within the tap itself. Dripping taps not only waste a lot of water (up to 90 litres of water a week) but if left unrepaired, then the problem may well get worse.

Rather than call out a plumber to help you fix the problem, then in the majority of cases, replacing the washer is a fairly straightforward task, that most of us can undertake. To help you, Bristan have commissioned a short video, which shows you how to do this in a simple step by step basis.

The video is one of a number of 'How to..' videos that have been added to the new Bristan TV channel on YouTube. Currently there are 11 videos, covering a number of subjects from servicing or replacing a shower cartridge, to how to install a pop up waste. Stuart sat in the tasty tub for a full hour in return for donations to the charity, managing to raise £200.

Further funny fundraising exploits included a crazy glasses fancy dress competition, with colleagues competing for the silliest style.

Stuart comments: “We always like to do our bit for Comic Relief and each year we try to come up with new and fun ways to raise as much money as possible. While I can’t say it was the most enjoyable bath I’ve ever had, it was worth it to help such an important and worthwhile cause.”

New Management Team Appointments at Bristan Group

Bristan on Channel 4's The Home Show

On May 21st, a new series of Channel 4's The Home Show began which saw architect George Clark help renovate a huge Victorian house in Parson's Green.

Bristan has teamed up with the National Schools Partnership to launch an innovative new classroom pack aimed at educating primary school children about the importance of saving water.

The Ecosmart Water Conservation pack has been distributed to 1,000 schools across the country ahead of the summer term. It includes educational resources to help teach children and their parents about the serious issue of water conservation in a fun and interactive way.

The introduction of the teaching pack forms part of Bristan’s long term strategy to promote water saving in the UK and supports the launch of ecosmart, the company’s own water efficient product range.

With 1,000 schools already signed up to take part, the campaign holds plenty of potential and we expect it to be a huge success.”

Developed by teachers and designed by the National Schools Partnership for Bristan, the Ecosmart Water Conservation Pack includes a host of fun lesson plans and activities for teachers and their classes. A dedicated homework task also encourages the children to involve their parents in identifying how they can save water in their own home.

Bristan Launches Inclusive Design Collection

Everybody deserves good design; that’s the proposition from Bristan as it launches its most comprehensive portfolio of easy-to-use products to date.

Working closely with respected occupational therapist Kate Sheehan, Bristan has brought together around 100 bathroom products to create ‘iD’, a collection of well designed, easy to use products that are suitable for all ages and abilities.

The iD collection includes taps and showers operated by long levers or push controls, easy access showering, stylish grab rails that can also double up as towel rails, and wall hung WCs and basins that can be hung to the required height.

‘Be Inspired’ is the name of Bristan’s first ever magazine dedicated to providing consumers with all the inspiration they need when choosing a new bathroom.

Featuring stunning new photography and loads of useful tips and advice, the magazine has been written and designed in-house by Bristan’s marketing team and offers plenty of added-value that you won’t necessarily get from a traditional brochure.

The aim of the magazine is to really help the Bristan brand stand out in the showroom and inspire the customer to purchase Bristan products. A second edition will be launched later in the year.

Bristan Hits The Marque With Waterwise Accreditation

Bristan’s ecosmart campaign has been given a boost this week with the announcement that three of products from the ecosmart range have been successful in achieving the prestigious Waterwise Marque.

Waterwise is an independent, not for profit organisation and a leading authority on water efficiency in the UK. The organisation works with water companies across the UK to help drive water efficiency and sits on the Environment Minister’s Water Saving Group.

The Waterwise Marque was established in 2006 and is the first scheme of its kind in the in the UK. The Marque is awarded annually to water using products which highlight water efficiency or reduce water wastage.

This year, the Waterwise judging panel have awarded the Marque to Bristan’s Prism eco-click basin mixer, Dune close coupled pan and cistern and the Dune single ended acrylic bath. As part of the accreditation, all products are now entitled to display the Marque logo, which can be used on packaging and literature in the future.

Bristan Shows Off Ecosmart At Homebuilding and Renovating Show

Visitors to this month’s ecobuild and Homebuilding and Renovating Show were among the first to see and learn more about Bristan’s ecosmart range of water saving products - and the response was fantastic.

Bristan’s Dune range in particular was a hit with those trying to save water in the bathroom, especially the bath. Most eco baths on the market save water by cutting the length; Bristan’s saves water by keeping the length, but by being a shallower fill, so people can still have a lovely lie-down soak.

Bristan’s eco-click taps were also popular and visitors to the show had the chance to see how you can still get a good stream of water from our taps and showers, even if the flow is restricted.

‘Get smart, get ecosmart’ is the proposition from Bristan as it launches a comprehensive range of products designed to save water in the bathroom.
